In the area of banking and finance, Li Zhu has represented most of the major PRC and international banks (BOC, CCB, ICBC, ABC, CDB, CEXIM, JPM, HSBC, SCB, BNP, IFC, ADB, etc.), including providing legal services in corporate finance (syndicated and bilateral loans), negotiable instruments, letter of credit, trade finance (sale of receivables and factoring), supply chain finance and vessel and aircraft finance. She has acted for a number of financing projects which are awarded by authoritative industrial journals as the annual deals (such as the financing work in ChemChina's acquisition of Syngenta, privatisation financing of Feihe Dairy). In respect of the compliance aspects of banking and finance, including cross-border payment, carbon trading, supply chain finance, futures and derivatives, etc. Li Zhu also provided the compliance relevant services.
In the area of debt capital market, as issuer, underwriter or guarantor counsel, Li Zhu assisted quite a number of international issuers in their issuance of Panda Bonds in the PRC, including “first deal” Panda Bonds issued by Korea, Poland, Egypt, Philippine, Portugal, Hungary, Sharjah, Province of British Columbia, NDB, AIIB, IBRD, BOCHK, CCBA, HSBC, CIMB Bank Berhad, Malayan Banking Berhad, UOB, Mizuho Bank, Chong Hing Bank, Luso Bank, Bayer, BASF, Daimler/Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volkswagen, Veolia, Trafigura, etc. Li Zhu also assisted quite a number of PRC companies in the issuance of bonds offshore (including in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, London and Frankfurt). Those issuers include ABC, CCB, ICBC, Everbright Bank, Industrial Bank, SPD Bank, China Eastern Airlines, PowerChina Limited, China Merchants, Bright Food Group, etc.
In the area of ESG, Li Zhu provided legal services to ADB and IFC for their CDM and VER projects. In 2021 and 2022, she worked on over 20 carbon trading projects carried out by a foreign commodity trader; a number of carbon allowances, CCER and carbon inclusion projects traded on Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange and Guangzhou Emissions Exchange; and a number of issuances of blue, green and SLB bonds.
