Roy Zhu is a partner of Global Law Office based in Shanghai. He concentrates his practice on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity transactions, and other complex cross-border corporate/commercial transactions for domestic and international clients. He also frequently works on global corporate reorganizations, assisting multinational clients prepare for future strategic transactions or in their post-acquisition integrations from a Chinese law perspective.
Roy has led transactions across a variety of industries, including automotive, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and scientific instruments, chemicals, food and beverage, semi-conductors, telecommunications, consumer products, hotel and hospitality, and real estate. He assists clients on a broad range of matters, including the structuring of domestic and cross-border transactions, conducting due diligence, and drafting and negotiating definitive agreements. He also routinely represents start-up and emerging companies, corporate venture investors and venture capital funds in equity financings. Representative deals include Evonik's $3.8 billion acquisition of the performance materials division of Air Products & Chemicals, Bekaert's €255 million acquisition of the steel cord business of Pirelli Tyre, Autoliv’s various joint venture projects in China, Intuitive Surgical's joint venture with Fosun Pharma, Sime Darby's joint venture projects in Shandong, China.
