Carrie Yan is a partner of Global Law Office (GLO) based in Beijing. Her main practice areas include intellectual property and dispute resolution, with a focus on Patent Law and Anti-unfair Competition Law. With over 15 years of experience in the field of intellectual property, including nearly five years of experience in patent examination and more than 10 years of experience in IP litigation, Carrie previously served as the lead partner for telecommunications and electrical litigation at a leading PRC domestic IP law firm.
Carrie Yan possesses a combined educational foundation in both electrical engineering and law. She specializes in complex and challenging intellectual property litigation related to technology, with particular expertise in patent litigation and related invalidation cases, as well as civil and criminal cases involving trade secrets in fields such as communications, semiconductors, electrical engineering, electrochemistry, computer science, mechanical automation, and materials. To date, she has handled approximately 200 intellectual property dispute cases, representing well-known, top technology companies from both domestic and international markets.
Recent representative cases, including but not limited to:
- Successfully persuaded the PRC Supreme People’s Court to overturn a series of patent invalidation decisions and first-instance judgements.
- Successfully represented a leading power battery company in a series of patent infringement lawsuits against several infringers, securing favorable outcomes.
- Successfully represented a Chinese SME in dozens of cross-patent litigation and invalidation proceedings against a state-owned enterprise, winning the vast majority of the cases.
- Successfully represented a Japanese company in invalidating a core patent held by a leading U.S. reinforced glass manufacturing company.
- Represented a telecommunication company in analyzing infringement and validity issues related to a series of LTE SEPs in preparation for the counter-lawsuits against another telecommunication company.
- Represented a multinational telecommunication company in preparatory analysis and license negotiations regarding a package of SEPs, leading to a favorable license agreement.
Carrie joined GLO as a partner in 2024. Prior to joining GLO, Carrie worked at LexField Law Offices and the China National Intellectual Property Administration.
